SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is presenting another of their Tahoe History Talks on Tuesday, October 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the historic Camp Richardson Hotel.
The topic this week is the history of the Thunderbird Lodge. Kirsten Duane, a long-time local and docent at the historic George Whittell, Jr. home will lead the event with stories about the grounds and the colorful former owner. Kirsten will focus on the building of "The Castle in the Sky," the use of Indian School labor, the Thunderbird Yacht, his pet lion and much more!
The event is free and located in the hotel lobby on Emerald Bay Road. No refreshments will be served so feel free to bring your own coffee or other beverage.
Save the date for the LTHS Fall Membership meeting on Tuesday, November 16, also at the lodge. It is open to the public and will feature speaker Robin Holabird who spoke during their summer series at Lakeview Commons. She will give an entertaining presentation on movies and stars who visited the South Shore.
