South Lake Tahoe firefighters start foundation to fundraise for causes

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It's been a long process, but the South Lake Tahoe Firefighters Foundation is now a reality. The new 501(c)(3) has been set up by the South Lake Tahoe Firefighter's Association so members can fundraise
for endeavors and charities they support, as well as for support of firefighters for needed equipment.

The SLT Firefighter's Association won this summer's Day in Paradise Duck Races, allowing them to donate money to the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe and buy their first supply of t-shirts to sell as their own fundraiser.

The t-shirts were on display at the fire department's pancake breakfast. All sales will add to the Foundation's efforts to continue to help others.

Shirts are in adult sizes only at this time, according to South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue Captain Al Martinez. He said children's sizes will be coming soon, but they only have adult sizes S-XXL now and they are available at all three fire stations.

Also coming soon will be a website for the new foundation. In the meantime, donations can be made on Venmo at https://account.venmo.com/u/SLTFF and Zelle.

"Now we can earn money to support the community as a whole," said Martinez of their t-shirt sales and donation sites.
