LTUSD homeless advocacy program accepting winter clothing donations

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With winter on its way, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) wants to ensure the students in its homeless advocacy program can enjoy playing in the snow this year.

The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe, the El Dorado County Office of Education, and other organizations already help students with winter coats and LTUSD is looking to supplement those donations with new or used snow boots, new gloves, hats, bibbed overalls, earmuffs, and snow pants.

During the school day, students can only play in the snow if they are adequately dressed for the conditions. Many of the South Lake Tahoe elementary students do not have full snow gear to keep them warm and dry during recess and after school.

Items can be dropped at South Tahoe High School in the Administration Office.
