Volunteers clear space at South Tahoe High for new quad with donated benches and tables

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Seventy volunteers were at South Tahoe High on Sunday, working hard to clear up the quad area in the center of campus for the upcoming table and bench project.

The South Tahoe Vikings Booster Club is spearheading the project and has been finding sponsors for the benches and tables, and coordinating donations.

Ed Cook's Tree Service donated the cut logs that now rim the quad area and brought along a Bobcat to move the logs, dirt, and boulder donated by Goodrich Construction.

The students, parents, and community volunteers worked hard in prepping the area. In the spring, the benches and tables will be installed.

John McDougall, through his Pay it Forward campaign not only donated lunches for the crew, but he also matched the first five tables sold with $10,000.

All of the benches have been sold, but some tables are still available.
Businesses, service organizations, and families are being offered the opportunity to sponsor an outdoor table at $1,500. There will be a plaque made for the tables and benches that will have the name of the sponsor on it along with a provided inspirational quote for the STHS students.
