Man seriously burned in South Lake Tahoe RV fire

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A fire in an RV Wednesday morning sent its occupant to the hospital with severe injuries.

At 6:17 a.m. on November 3, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) was called to the 800 block of Eloise Avenue where they found a recreational vehicle (RV) parked on an empty lot with moderate smoke coming from it. There were no visible flames at the time but a person was inside.

The sole occupant, an unidentified man in his early 60s, was flown to Reno with critical injuries and severe burns according to SLTFR Chief Clive Savacool.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it appears to be accidental, Savacool said.

Battalion Chief Jim Drennan said the RV is most likely a total loss. He hadn't received an update on the man's condition as of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
