Measure N, the Vacancy Tax, has been given much attention, and rightfully so. Both sides agree it is important to READ THE ORDINANCE!
So here it is, full and finalized. It cannot be changed before the election:

As you read it, please note that the Summary, Petition, Findings, and Declaration pages were written by the Pro-Tax folks and are NOT part of the Ordinance. There is at least one very important omission on the Summary page and a number of "mismatches" on the Petition and Findings/Declarations pages. Only the Ordinance itself (which begins with Section 3) would be valid and enforceable if Measure N passes.
Please read with a critical eye. Use the word search feature if you care to.
My take is much the same as it was after my first reading of the Ordinance back in February.
"Sadly, it appears that the real purpose of this initiative is to grow city government, increasing its size, scope and power, fueled by tax dollars from a 'soft target' that, by and large, cannot defend itself through the ballot box."
Please Vote NO on Measure N.
