A glimpse of winter to start the week, mild and sunny Veterans Day

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Areawide strong winds will continue through tonight and into Monday, with a Lake Wind Advisory until 4 p.m. Monday. There will be a glimpse of winter starting with rain showers that will become more numerous during the day on Monday. Some snow may cause travel impacts over the Sierra Monday late afternoon and night. From Tuesday afternoon onward, including the Veteran`s Day weekend, relatively quiet weather is expected for most areas. A few mountain snow showers are possible on Friday.
The storm door remains at least slightly ajar into the following week. Models are showing the potential for Pacific storms in the 11/14-18 timeframe.
South Lake Tahoe forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:
Monday - Rain, mainly after 1 pm. Snow level 7500 feet. High near 48. Breezy, with a southwest wind of around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday Night - Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 1 a.m. Snow level 7100 feet lowering to 6300 feet after midnight. Low around 22. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Tuesday - A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before 4 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Tuesday Night - A 20 percent chance of snow before 10pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 18. East wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 45. East wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 18.
Thursday = Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
Thursday Night - A slight chance of snow after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a
low around 24.
Friday - A slight chance of snow before 10 am, then a slight chance of rain between 10 am and 4 pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow after 4 pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
Friday Night - A slight chance of rain and snow. Snow level 6500 feet. Mostly clear, with a low around 21.
Veterans Day - Sunny, with a high near 52.
Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
