Letter: Resident frustrated with lack of understanding of "Tahoe Sierra" subdivision

Dear Editor: First of all, for someone who is running for City Council - he should know the name of the subdivision where he lives. He said he lives in “Sierra Tract.” (See his letter to the editor here) The misnomer name of that subdivision was corrected officially by former City Manager, Nancy Kerry. It was a MISTAKE. The correct name for that subdivision is Tahoe Sierra, and although many think of it as it was incorrectly called for years ago - a wanna-be Council member should be correct in identifying the place correctly.

Nick Speal refers to a Vacancy Tax in Vancouver, which is not part of the US. (Typical)

Folks who have owned family second housing will not likely rent out their generational homes; but will rather, sell & move to a community that values the right to own property and rights that go along with that. Before I became a full-time resident, I rented my place out - only to have theft (by a High School teacher-tenant); 18 piles of dog crap left upon moving; smoking when it is a non-smoking property; and damage. I will never go through that again - I would rather sell and buy in a community that respects my taxpaying ownership.

So, I hope Nick Speak gets a clue on the rightful name of the subdivision where he purportedly lives, particularly if he intends to speak about South Lake Tahoe issues. It is embarrassing to have folks who don’t know the facts, speak for important issues.
