Letter: New council member wants to be positive force for good in South Lake Tahoe

Dear Residents, Business Owners, and Homeowners: I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to those who voted for me and supported my campaign for city council. I cannot tell you how honored and humbled Terri and I are because of the support we received. Terri worked very hard to support and guide my campaign. I look forward to serving all members of the community and working with other members of the city council to find common goals and an agreed-upon way to achieve them. I want to see our city council and community unite around our approach to important governance issues.

We must have a strong and healthy local economy that supports and nurtures local businesses and job growth for all segments of our community. We need to encourage business retention, business expansion, and environmentally healthy new business development. We need to work with existing affordable housing providers and others to find ways to address housing needs for our residents. We must ensure that Federal and State landowners in the city limits and Basin make their properties as fire-safe as possible. I will be a good listener and problem solver. We can grow city revenue by growing the economy and living within our means.

I will make myself available to the community members who wish to discuss matters of concern with me and do additional outreach. I will be a supportive advocate for resolving these matters within the framework of our local government system. Escucharé a todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad.

South Lake Tahoe and its many fine people have been good to Terri and me. I believe in the integrity and honor of public service, and I want to be a positive force for good in South Lake Tahoe.

Respectfully,
David Jinkens
