South Tahoe High Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball make bids for state titles

Friday update: The STHS Boys Soccer team won their semifinal match against Virgin Valley Friday morning, 3-1. They meet SLAM Nevada at 10 a.m. Saturday for the championship. North Tahoe had lost earlier today to SLAM Nevada, 3-1.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 2023 Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) 3A soccer final playoffs begin Friday, November 10, with the South Tahoe High (STHS) boys playing in the semifinals against Virgin Valley at 11 a.m. STHS is the #1 seed from the north. North Tahoe High is going into the semis as the #2 seed and they play Friday against SLAM Nevada. The tournament is held in North Las Vegas at Cristo Rey St. Viator.

The STHS Girls Volleyball team is also in the NIAA state championship, entering the Nov. 10 semifinal games as the #2 seed from the north. They play at 4:20 p.m. against The Meadows. The winner of that game plays Saturday at noon for the state title. All games are played at the University of Nevada Reno Virginia Street Gym.

In October, the STHS Girls Golf team went to the state tournament, with Ava Wolfe finishing 10th, Piper Arnold at 22nd, Madison Cisneros 23rd, Carly Cox 25th, Josie Feeney 32nd, and Maya Cisneros 34th.

The STHS Girls Soccer were stopped on their state bid during the northern region semifinals. They took their 12-1-1 record into the tournament and met up against the 14-4 Lowry team, beating them 2-1. The STHS Vikings then played the 17-1 Elko Indians. Elko won the game 2-0.
