Smoke fills Lake Tahoe Basin from prescribed fires again

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Smoke from prescribed fire operations in the Sierra Nevada and areas west has found its way into the Lake Tahoe Basin. While none of the fires are currently active, there was residual smoke that got trapped in an inversion layer.

The prescribed fires in the Lake Tahoe Basin were ignited through Friday south of Luther Pass Campground, on Columbine Trail, and Uppaway Estates, Glenbrook.

The National Weather Service in Reno said the winds that will be accompanying the incoming weather system on Sunday should move smoke out of the Lake Tahoe area.
