Lake Tahoe Historical Society holds 55th anniversary party and the community is invited!

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join the Lake Tahoe Historical Society (LTHS) on Sunday, November 19, 2023, as they celebrate their 55th anniversary! Dr. David Borges will be the Master of Ceremonies as many longtime residents share their stories of days gone by.

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the community is invited to the anniversary party which is in the senior center at the Museum Complex, 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. Parking is available in that parking lot as well as at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center. Public transportation is also encouraged.

LTHS is trying to get a count on the number of people attending, so if possible, please RSVP by Tuesday, November 14 by calling 530-541-5458, and providing your name and number of people who will be attending..

There will be refreshments provided and the event is free of charge though donations are accepted.

Fifty-five years ago, a group of dedicated citizens got together to preserve the history of the area. Find out about the first museum, which was inside a log cabin in the Al Tahoe neighborhood. The cabin moved across the street and the museum moved into what was once the library. Now part of the complex includes the 1859 Osgood Toll House. The drawn plans of the tollhouse preservation will be on display during the anniversary party.
