EDSO, USFS and Clean Tahoe clean 1,000 pounds of trash from meadow around Trout Creek

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) recently assisted Clean Tahoe and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement in cleaning up along the sides of Trout Creek and removing garbage around homeless camps.

Deputies were out raking, shoveling, gathering, and loading trash. The amount of items Clean Tahoe was disposing of was estimated to be well over 1,000 lbs by their employee, Devin Henderson. It was too much for Henderson to gather up on his own and law enforcement was out there off and on all day helping him and also for security in case anyone was found camping in the area.

No tents were cut down, no active camps were found, and no people were present, according to EDSO Sgt. Kyle Parker. Parker said no one was relocated.

In the weeks leading up to this, deputies had been doing extra patrols on foot, discouraging people from loitering, setting up camps, drug use, etc. There had been some arrests and citations issued prior to the clean-up as part of the extra patrols.
