Almost 1.5 tons of trash cleared from South Lake Tahoe encampments

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Almost 3,000 pounds of garbage was removed from three homeless encampments in South Lake Tahoe over the past month. A collaboration between the two field crew members of Clean Tahoe, the U.S. Forest Service, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, and the El Dorado County Sheriff's Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) addressed the encampments.

"A huge thank you to the many citizens who brought these camps to our attention — your vigilance and concern make a difference," said the HOT team. "A special shoutout to Clean Tahoe for their quick action in removing debris before snow covered the camps."

The HOT team said those in the encampments they cleared out were offered resources but were declined.

"We remain committed to supporting our community and working toward solutions for all," added the HOT team. "Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and dedication to keeping South Lake Tahoe beautiful and safe for all!"
