Heavenly and Northstar postpone opening dates due to warm conditions

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With recent warm temperatures in the Lake Tahoe region, Vail Resorts has announced they have had to delay their targeted opening days at both Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort.

Mountain staff is monitoring the weather minute-by-minute, and their expert snowmaking teams are ready to make snow at every possible opportunity so they can open for the 2023/24 ski and ride season the moment they’re able to.

Kirkwood is still scheduled to open on Friday, December 1, conditions permitting.

Both Heavenly and Northstar have activities people can enjoy until the snow flies. The original opening date for ski operations remains at the date the Gondola will open for sightseeing in addition to Tamarack Lodge and Blue Café for amazing views, signature dishes, and drinks.

In the Village at Northstar, Wild Pine, Bourbon Pub, Rink Bar, and the new café VOUS will open Friday, November 17, as well as True North, Patagonia, The North Face, Oakley, Burton, Butterbox, Northstar Logo Co., and Mine.

The resorts will announce their ski and ride opening dates as soon as they are able.
