Deadly crash in Douglas County after suspect leaves path of destruction

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A parole absconder from Oregon fled from deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) on Tuesday afternoon, crashing into several vehicles before being involved in a deadly crash.

On November 16, at 4:45 p.m., a DCSO deputy was driving in the Gardnerville Ranchos area when a speeding vehicle approached him from the rear, almost striking the deputy's patrol car. The deputy immediately recognized the driver as someone who'd they'd been looking for over the past week. He was wanted in Oregon for avoiding law enforcement after being on parole for assault on a police officer in that state.

Minden, Nevada- On November 16, 2021 at 4:45 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Deputy was driving in the Gardnerville Ranchos area, when a speeding vehicle approached the Deputy from the rear almost striking the Deputy’s marked patrol unit. The Deputy immediately recognized the motor vehicle and driver as a subject who is a parole absconder for assault on a Police Officer from the State of Oregon. DCSO has been looking for the subject for more than a week.

After coming up on the DCSO vehicle the suspect turned his vehicle around. The deputy was able to locate the suspect and his car on several side streets where the deputy attempted a stop. The driver proceeded to strike several other motor vehicles as he fled from the deputy, according to a County press release.

The parolee eventually turned onto Tillman Lane from Patricia and struck a vehicle in that intersection. The suspect’s vehicle rolled over several times ejecting the passenger. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver was taken to the hospital by Careflight for his injuries.
