I am writing to congratulate the newly elected and returning South Lake Tahoe City Council members. I wish for them, and all of us, success and good fortune. As policymakers, our community’s future is in their hands. I also wanted to congratulate all who ran for office for their energy and for conducting a positive campaign. People at other levels of government running for office could learn from our experience on how to conduct themselves.
I want to extend a personal thanks to the 1,700-plus voters who supported my campaign. Their support is heartening and humbling for Terri and me. I will not let them or our community down. I intend to be an active voice on important issues facing our city, and I continue to want to hear from residents and business owners about matters of importance to them. I care about our city, our residents, our business community, and our future. Because I write a community newsletter about local, regional, state, and federal issues at no cost to recipients, anyone who wishes to receive it needs only send an email to me at: djinkens@charter.net.
I thought the local media and local organizations did a fine job covering the campaign and allowing candidates for office to have a forum for their opinions.
Finally, I want to thank my wife Terri for the extraordinary work, help, support, and advice she gave me throughout the campaign. Campaigning for public office is no easy task, and I could not have run a campaign without her.
Best wishes and regards to all.
