SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A gradual warming trend will bring temperatures to near seasonal averages by Thanksgiving Day. Otherwise, dry conditions will remain through most of the upcoming week. A more unsettled pattern could arrive toward the end of the holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
Valley inversions will continue as high pressure remains the dominant pattern over our region. Starting Tuesday, high pressure will build in and stay overhead through the rest of the week. High temperatures are expected to increase a few degrees above average by mid-next week. It's been a while since 57 degrees was the forecast high for Thanksgiving in the Sierra!
This week's predicted unsettled weather fizzled out, and there is still a fair amount of uncertainty with an upcoming system at the end of Thanksgiving weekend. Need to take what the deterministic model resolves with a grain of salt, especially being 8-10 days out. Although, the models are continuing to increase confidence that a more active pattern is in store after next weekend.
We'll have to wait and see!
