Evacuated residents from 20,000 acre Mountain View Fire to return home Sunday

The evacuation order for residents affected by the Mountain View Fire in Walker, California will be lifted on Sunday, November 22, at 8:00 a.m. Residents are asked to please use the reentry site on Highway 395 and Eastside Lane.
The fire started about 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17 in the Coleville area and quickly grew due to the high winds and dry grass, affected the towns of Coleville, Walker and Topaz. 20,879 acres have burned to date and the fire is 60 percent contained. Over 200 firefighting personnel remain at the scene dealing with hot spots and completing containment lines.
At one point 1,200 people were evacuated from their homes. There are 178 evacuees remaining nd will be able to repopulate Sunday. About 60 homes and buildings have been destroyed.
CalOES has been on site removing hazardous and dangerous debris.
