SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As the holiday season approaches, Live Violence Free is excited to announce the launch of its annual Gift-A-Holiday drive. This holiday gift drive invites the South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County communities to help bring joy and support to local survivors and their families facing challenging circumstances this winter.
As a nonprofit agency that supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County, the needs of their clients are numerous. This year there are over 90 ornaments on their tree with wish lists on them.
Live Violence Free is reaching out to neighbors, friends, and community supporters across the region to help clear the tree and make the season brighter for all.
“For many survivors and their families, the holidays can be an especially difficult time,” says Samantha Abbott, case manager at Live Violence Free. “A simple gesture of kindness can make a huge difference. By donating a gift, community members in South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County have the chance to bring joy and hope to families who need it most and show that our region cares.”
How Gift-A-Holiday Works
Participating in the gift drive is easy and meaningful. Here’s how community members can get involved:
Pick an Ornament: Stop by Live Violence Free at 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd to select an ornament with gift wish information, or sign up online by visiting liveviolencefree.org/holiday by November 29, 2024.
Deliver Your Gift: Drop off your gift at Live Violence Free by December 9, 2024. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Make a Difference: Each gift donated will go directly to survivors and their families in South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County, offering not only joy but also the comfort of knowing they are supported by their community.
Why Community Support Matters
For survivors and their families, even a small act of kindness during the holidays can mean more than words can express. Donations are more than just gifts; they are messages of support, reminders that the community cares, and gestures that inspire hope during difficult times. By joining the Gift-A-Holiday drive, participants are helping to strengthen the bonds that make the South Lake Tahoe and Alpine communities resilient and compassionate.
Live Violence Free encourages all community members to participate, whether by donating a gift or spreading the word. “This holiday season, let’s come together to show the true spirit of Tahoe and Alpine generosity,” says Abbott. “Whether you can give one gift or encourage others to join, every action counts. Together, we can clear the tree and spread joy to those who need it most.”
