South Lake Tahoe woman releases first book, Dear Baby Girl, Let the Adventures Begin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Jeanna Rangel did not want to forget anything her two daughters said and did when they were growing up. She did not want to forget any milestones - when they smiled, laughed, rolled over, crawled, or took their first steps. To remember, she wrote notes, taking a pocket calendar and notebook everywhere she went with her daughters. Once a month she would take those notes and write them in a letter. Every month for 17 years.

Now those letters are in Rangel's first book, "Dear Baby Girl, Let the Adventures Begin."

Rangel wrote as her two daughters discovered their characters and personalities. She writes about the good, bad, and the ugly, the struggles they endured, and the challenges they faced. She tells of the mistakes they made along the way and how they handled them together.

"I am not the perfect parent by any means, but I sure tried my hardest to be the best mother I could be to my girls," said Rangel. "I love them both with all my heart. We are incredibly close. We are The Three Musketeers."

Rangel was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1995. She left Tahoe to attend the University of Southern California (USC) where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. She then moved back to Tahoe, got married and had two daughters.

The new author says she was an only child, raised by her mother, having a difficult childhood without her father in the picture. Rangel says she was a very determined individual and grew up quickly. At USC she originally wanted to be an animator, but without experience, I found it very hard to find a job after graduating.

"I devoted my life to [my girls] and was determined to give them a better life than I had," says Rangel. "No matter how hard you try to be the best parent, ultimately your children grow and decide for themselves who they want to be."

Dear Baby Girl, Let the Adventures Begin is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, just in time for the holidays.
