South Lake Tahoe Rite Aid closing December 10

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - When the Rite Aid corporation announced a restructuring in October, a list was published of store locations that would close. At that time there were 31 California stores on the closure list and South Lake Tahoe was not one of them.

A notice went up this week at the South Lake Tahoe store on Al Tahoe Boulevard that the local location would be closing on December 10. All prescriptions on file will be sent to the CVS store at Bijou unless the customer would like them sent elsewhere. In that case, contact Rite Aid.

Many items in the store are starting to be packaged up and sent elsewhere but customers will find many Christmas decoration items still in the store and on sale.

The bankrupt pharmacy chain, Rite Aid Corp., initiated a voluntary court-supervised process in October under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

A federal judge gave the bankrupt pharmacy chain until March 1, 2024, to complete its turnaround. There will be a final hearing that day to decide the fate of the company’s reorganization proposal.

The Rite Aid location was once PayLess Drug Store and adjoined with the neighboring Lucky store, then Albertsons before Ross came in.
