Another amazing Thanksgiving is in the books. It’s now time to transition into the Christmas Season! While I like to provide recipes that are healthy and delicious, today’s recipe is one that will be pleasing to your sense of smell!
One of the things that I am loving this year that has totally put me in the Christmas spirit is Christmas stovetop potpourri. There is something so nostalgic and old-fashioned about having a pot of cranberries, citrus slices and cinnamon sticks simmering on the stove that makes your home smell festive!
This recipe is super-flexible, and you can custom-create it to suit your tastes. The great thing about a potpourri like this is that if the scent is too strong, you can mellow it out by adding a little more water. If it’s not strong enough, you can sprinkle in your favorite spices or add some more cinnamon sticks.
Easy Christmas Potpourri
1 Ruby Red Grapefruit
1 Cara Cara Orange
1 Red Apple
1 Lemon
½ cup fresh cranberries
2-3 cinnamon sticks
Pine Tree Branches
Leaving the skins on, cut each fruit into ¼” slices. Fill a pot halfway with water. Place all ingredients into the pot. Bring the water to a boil then turn down the heat and let the liquid evaporate into your house. Enjoy as the festive scents of the season fill your home!
