HOMEWOOD, Calif. - Ed Miller has served 36 years on the El Dorado County Civil Service Commission, 34 of those years as its chairman.
Miller submitted his resignation this week to be effective after current hearings.
"Over the decades working with so many talented colleagues both on the Commission and the County staff, I have made it a continuing goal to show the employees of our County that they are valued and always deserving of due process without bias or prejudice," said Miller in his resignation letter to the Board of Supervisors. "I thank you and all of your predecessors for my continued reappointment and the privilege of serving."
"It is with a heavy heart that I formally accept your resignation. Thank you for giving of your time and knowledge to serve our county. You did so with integrity, dedication, and loyalty to our staff. You are nothing short of amazing. We appreciate you," said El Dorado County Supervisor Brooke Laine.
"Ed, this is truly the end of an era. I don't know if you recall, but I sat in as an alternate on the commission once about 15 years or so ago, and I was impressed by your leadership, fairness, and compassion for all involved. The County has been fortunate to benefit from your wisdom on the commission for so long. I know you'll be missed. Thank you for your service, wrote Sue Hennike, assistant chief administrative officer for the county in a letter to Miller.
Miller will continue in his board position with the Meeks Bay Fire District until the annexation process with North Tahoe Fire is complete. He has served on that board for over 40 years.
The El Dorado County Board Clerk will post the opening on the county's website and anybody who is a resident in District 5 (the lake side of El Dorado County)can apply.
