Budding young artists are encouraged to participate in the California State Parks' 2nd annual Youth Art Contest, "Discover State Parks." The submitted artwork should share what the artist personally discovered in one of the state parks.
Any flat medium is acceptable, including chalk, crayon, marker, ink, paint, watercolor or collage. There are no entry fees associated with this contest.
"Our Youth Art Contest is a fun way for young people to create art inspired by their encounters with wildlife and nature, what they have learned about history and culture, or a favorite recreational activity," said Linsey Fredenburg-Humes,
Winning entries in each of our five age categories will be announced in January, with winners receiving prize packages from CSPF. Artwork will also be displayed on our website, social media, at the State Capitol and in other venues in California.
Age groups are 4 – 6, 7 – 9, 10 – 12, 13 – 15 and 16 – 18.
For rules and entry forms, visit their website, http://www.calparks.org/whatwedo/advocacy/youthartcontest/
All entries must be postmarked by December 17.
