STATELINE, Nev. - The Douglas County courthouse at Lake Tahoe was filled with the delicious smells of a holiday feast on Friday. For years Lakeside Inn and Casino brought over a meal for the staff in the building including deputies, clerks, and court staff including the judge. When they closed there was nobody to fill the slack until Lucky Beaver Bar & Grill staff prepared a large meal for them.
"I would like to thank the Lucky Beaver and Dreu Murin for their continued support to the Douglas County Community and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office," said Undersheriff Ron Elges. They have gone above and beyond to support everyone time and time again. The Holiday Fest they provided for the employees at the Lake Tahoe Substation was exceptional. We thought this tradition would disappear along with the Lakeside Inn, who provided a holiday meal for us for decades, but the Lucky Beaver and Mr. Murin stepped in to continue this tradition. We could not have asked for better community partners."
Victor Corea, Troy Beebe, and Margo Quintero from the Lucky Beaver were up early to cook a turkey, ribs, sausage, and plenty of side dishes for the substation and court staff.
Judge Richard Glasson carved up the turkey, joking that he hadn't gone far since working the kitchen at the Cal-Neva in 1971 prior to law school.
“We at the Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger are honored to carry on the tradition of providing a holiday dinner to the great folks at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office," said Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger Co-Owner Mike Leeper. "We are so thankful to all they do not only for us at our Stateline location, but our entire community. It’s the least we could do.”
