South Lake Tahoe forecast: Lake Wind Advisory then week of upper elevation snow, rain

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for the Lake Tahoe area from 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday. Expect winds from the southwest, 10-20 mph with gusts up 20 35 mph. Waves on the lake could be 1-3 feet.
Expect widespread rain and mountain snow through Tuesday, with some lingering showers in the Sierra through Thursday, according to NWS Reno. The forecast snow should all be above lake level though travel may be difficult at times over the passes.
The NWS Reno forecast for South Lake Tahoe:
Monday - A chance of rain and snow before 8 am, then rain. Snow level 7900 feet rising to 8800 feet. High near 47. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Monday Night = Rain before 2 am, then rain and snow. Snow level 8100 feet. Low around 30. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Tuesday - Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 8 am. Snow level 7800 feet. High near 43. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Tuesday Night - Rain before 11 pm, then rain, possibly mixed with snow. Snow level 7400 feet. Low around 26. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Wednesday - Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 11 am. Snow level 7000 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
