CHiPs for Kids 2024 a huge success - over 1,000 toys for kids in Alpine and El Dorado counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol (CHP) office in South Lake Tahoe has resembled the North Pole lately with all of the toys they have been collecting for local children in need.

The toys are part of the CHIPS for Kids program where CHP collects toys during the holidays to distribute to organizations that help children and families.

The South Lake Tahoe CHP office had bins for toys in their office, at Jim Bagan Toyota, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Mad Dog Cafe, and the Alpine County Courthouse. On Friday, they distributed the toys, with over 50 going to Alpine County Health & Human Services and over 1,000 sent over to Christmas Cheer in South Lake Tahoe.
