Douglas County crash on US395 claims life of Gardnerville man

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Troopers from the Nevada State Police, Highway
Patrol Division responded to reports of a fatal crash on Saturday, December 17 at approximately 5:10 a.m.

The crash was in the area of US395 and Mile Marker 9, north of Hallelujah Junction/SR208.

The department's preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2018 GMC Sierra K2500 Denali pickup truck driven by a Reno man was traveling southbound on the highway. A silver 2019 Nissan Rogue S/SL/SV driven by Kevin Skogmo of Gardnerville was traveling northbound on US395, approaching the GMC.

The Denali's driver, for reasons unconfirmed, allowed the GMC to cross over the centerline and into the path of the Nissan. The left front of the GMC struck the left front of the Nissan, causing the Nissan to overturn. Skogmo
was pronounced deceased on the scene. The other driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.
