Lake Tahoe man arrested on alleged lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age

UPDATE 12/22/22: On December 21, 2022, further investigation into another suspected lewd act in 2017 determined there was enough probable cause to arrest Nance with a second charge of lewd act with a child under 14 years of age.  This charge was added to the original charges.  

This investigation is continuing and surrounding agencies are actively involved. 

Nance’s bail was increased to a bondable bail at $600,000 or $100,000 cash. He is still incarcerated in the DCSO Jail. 

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A resident of Round Hill, Nevada has been arrested on allegations he committed a lewd act with a child under 14 years of age.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) served a search warrant in the 400 block of McFaul Way in Round Hill Nevada on December 15, 2022. The search warrant authorized DCSO to search the home of Zachary Nance, a 35-year-old male. Mr. Nance is being investigated for allegations that he committed a lewd act with a child under 14 years of age. While searching Mr. Nance’s residence, evidence relevant to the crime was located in his home, according to DCSO.

Nance was arrested and booked at DCSO’s Lake Tahoe Jail for the crime of a lewd act with a child under 14 years of age.

The suspect is a long-time local and a graduate of George Whittell High School.

While investigators searched Nance’s residence, additional information was learned indicating he planned to make contact with several other underaged children in Stateline, Nevada, and South Lake Tahoe, California, law enforcement said.

DCSO is working collaboratively with members of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office to fully investigate this information discovered during the search warrant of Nance’s residence.

The law enforcement agencies investigating this matter are working diligently to determine what if any other crimes have been committed. No additional information can be released regarding this investigation at this time. There are rumors on social media in regard to this investigation, and DCSO asks for the public's patience and prudence with this information.

Mr. Nance is currently incarcerated in the DCSO Jail with a bondable bail of $500,000 or $100,000 cash.
