Lucky Beaver Toy Run helps families in South Lake Tahoe and Reno

STATELINE, Nev./RENO, Nev. - The annual Lucky Beaver Toy Run was once again successful, raising $15,000 in cash and toys at the business's Reno and South Shore locations.

The drive was kicked off with donations from Lucky Beaver Bar and Burgers' inaugural ten-team “Lucky Beaver Dodgeball Tournament” fundraiser hosted at South Tahoe Middle School on December 1. The tournament was won by a local business, Team Vacation Rental Assistance, and the event raised almost $7,000, according to organizer Dreu Murin.

Other donations came in from Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Jeremy Gilpin of JFG Investments, Tahoe Ski Bum Kenny Curtzwiler, Lucky Beaver Bar and Burger owner Pat Farrah, and his staff and patrons, and community members.

“The Lucky Beaver Toy Run has really turned into something special for our communities," said Farrah. "Our Lucky Beaver team and patrons really came through for so many families the past couple of years. I couldn’t be more proud and thankful for all the support.”

A $3,000 donation came from the Brotherhood Motorcycle club who arrived on their motorcycles in a snowstorm.

“The Brotherhood MC would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. On behalf of the Northern Nevada Coalition Clubs, we appreciate the Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger & Dreu Murin for facilitating this toy run for families here in the Tahoe Basin,” said Charlie Kight, president of the club.

All donations from the South Shore will go to support families at Christmas Cheer, and Reno donations will go to Toys for Tots.

Tom Davis of Christmas Cheer expressed his appreciation for all the help this holiday from Murin and the Lucky Beaver. He said if any family is in need this holiday season, reach out to Christmas Cheer. You can reach Christmas Cheer by calling (530) 542-4934.
