City warns skiers that parking will be heavily enforced in residential areas by Heavenly

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With only one ski resort operating within ten miles of South Lake Tahoe and excellent conditions on the slopes, skiers and riders are heading to Heavenly Mountain Resort.

With so many vehicles using the two levels of parking lots at Heavenly, many people are utilizing city streets to park for the day, sometimes double-parking, blocking driveways, or making streets impassable.

Due to the safety concerns with current parking habits, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department will be heavily enforcing the law along Ski Run Blvd., Needle Peak Road, Saddle Road, Regina Road, Wildwood Avenue, and Keller Road. Officers will issue citations to individuals that violate parking laws and vehicles will be towed if they are blocking access to roads or driveways.

Parking on residential streets should be single file along one side of the road other than on Ski Run Boulevard where cars are parked diagonally.

To alleviate parking issues, there is a free Heavenly shuttle to and from Heavenly Village, as well as free bus service from many locations in South Lake Tahoe to the Village. There is a City parking lot at the Village as well as paid day-long parking behind Raley's at Stateline.

Stagecoach Lodge opened on December 21 and has free parking for guests in two different lots and a free shuttle from Boulder Lodge. Stagecoach Lodge is located at 375 Quaking Aspen Lane and Boulder Lodge is located at 140 S. Benjamin Drive.
