CalTrans closes I-80 for whole day Sunday, will reassess Monday - no word on US-50

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Snow and wind are creating hazardous conditions on roads around Lake Tahoe. CalTrans has announced that both westbound and eastbound lanes of I-80 between Colfax and the Nevada state line will remain closed Sunday. They will reassess the situation on Monday but at this time there is no estimated time of reopening.

As of 10:00 a.m. Sunday there is no official word on plans for US-50 and if it will reopen today. The highway is currently closed from east of Placerville to Pollock Pines and from Meyers to Echo Summit. Some cars remain on the summit that became stuck in heavy snow Saturday night before the road closed.

Traffic on US395 in the Washoe Valley is being directed off the highway due to a 20-car pile up this morning.

US395 south in Mono County from just north of Bishop to SR 182 is closed to traffic in both directions.
