City of South Lake Tahoe opens two sandbag filling states in advance of storm

TUESDAY UPDATE: There is an update on the locations of the bags. Public Works Maintenance Yard at 1160 Rufus Allen will not be providing sandbags and it will be at the Recreation Center at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd., in the back parking lot. Both this location and the fire station are open 24x/7 and bringing a shovel is recommended since supplies are limited.

El Dorado County is also offering sandbags. They are at 1834 Santa Fe Ave. in Meyers

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With the incoming atmospheric river, the City of South Lake Tahoe has sandbag filling stations open in two locations for residents, especially if living in areas prone to flooding.

Sandbags are available at the following locations:

• City's Public Works Yard - located at 1160 Rufus Allen Blvd.

• South Lake Tahoe Fire Station #3 - located at 2101 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

For sandbags located at the City's Public Works Yard, proceed through the gate and drive to the back of the lot where you will see a mound of sand. Shovels and sandbags will be provided, however, please remember to leave the shovels so that other residents may use them. They are open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sand and sandbags are available 24/7 at the back of Fire Station #3. Please leave shovels that are there for others to use, or bring your own.
