Washoe County animal cruelty investigation leads to an arrest and seizure of 31 animals

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. - An investigation into animal welfare concerns that began on October 16 has led to the arrest of a Reno woman on two felony counts of willful/malicious torture, maiming or killing an animal, and two misdemeanor counts of failing to provide food/water/air for a confined animal.

Washoe County Regional Animal Services began the investigation that ultimately secured a warrant leading to the confiscation of 26 dogs and five horses from a property. Authorities said the animals were found to be living in a variety of unacceptable physical and environmental conditions and were promptly removed to ensure their safety and well-being.

The animals' owner, Greta Anderson, was arrested on December 27, 2023 on the allegations.

Washoe County Regional Animal Services, with support from other community agencies, continues to house and care for the 31 total confiscated animals.
