US 50 closed in both directions between Meyers and Ice House, some ski resort operations closed or on hold

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Travelers need to be aware of road closures before traveling in the Sierra. As the rain turned to heavy snow Saturday morning, rock and mudslides occurred.

US50 is closed from Sly Park to Meyers due to heavy flooding and mud at a few spots, mostly west of Whitehall. There is no estimated time of opening and motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays. No detours are provided.

There is also a closure at Sly Park Road.

SR89 is closed around Emerald Bay.

Caltrans has no estimated time for the road reopening.

Due to the road closure, Sierra-at-Tahoe is closed for the day. There is flooding at Kirkwood and at this time Chairs 1, 7, and 9 are closed for the day, the status of Chairs 5, 6, 10, and 11 are "to be determined." Heavenly is currently on a delayed opening due to 14" of fresh snow and downed power lines. Check ahead at all ski resorts to check conditions.

Due to flooding, US-395 is closed in both directions on US395 in Nevada from NV-208 to mile marker 11.
