Humane Society of Tahoe Truckee starts pet bereavement group

To help, the Humane Society of Tahoe Truckee (HSTT) has launched a Pet Loss Support Group for grieving pet parents. This group will help those experiencing this loss, or anticipated loss, of their furry friend.

Free bereavement camp for Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley area kids
Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 2:05pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Barton Health is hosting Camp Sunrise, a free bereavement camp, for kidse ages 7 to 14 August 16-17 at Galiliee Camp and Retreat Center in Glenbrook.
Kids who have experienced the death of a loved one are invited to attend the camp which offers education and support through a variety of fun-filled activities and programs on the shore of Lake Tahoe.

December 10, 2015 (All day) Barton Hospice encourages people who have experienced the loss of a loved one or have endured a significant, life-altering event to attend the ongoing bereavement group called "Reflections of Life and Loss." This group helps teach attendees how to cope with certain situations and encourages emotional connections with others. Support and bereavement groups allow people to release emotions they may otherwise keep to themselves. It can improve a participant's mood and decrease psychological distress.

Lake Tahoe Grief Camp for Children

Camp Sunrise is a children’s bereavement camp, serving children ages 7 to 14, who have experienced the death of a loved one. Sponsored by the Barton Foundation and Home Health and Hospice, the grief camp takes place June 13 to 15 at Galilee Camp and Retreat Center in Glenbrook, Nevada.
Barton Helping Beyond the Hospital Walls

In March 2012, Barton Health engaged with the community to complete a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) of South Lake Tahoe’s health needs. Part of the Affordable Care Act, all nonprofit hospitals must identify health needs for vulnerable, often under-served, populations within their community and create an action plan to address these needs.

Camp Sunrise is a free bereavement camp offered to children ages 7 through 14 who have experienced the death of a family member. The three-day camp provides grief education and support in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
