Tahoe Climbing Coalition holds launch party/membership drive

The new Tahoe Climbing Coalition is holding their launch party and fundraiser on Saturday, May 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at South Lake Brewing Company in South Lake Tahoe.

World-class climber Ethan Pringle will join the festivities as a guest speaker.

Join the new group that is dedicated to providing access, stewardship, and advocation of rock climbing, mountaineering, and bouldering in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Join the group during the evening and receive $1 off your beer. Memberships are available from $20 to $60.

2018 Tahoe Pride Art Show

The 2018 Tahoe Pride Art Show, "Love is a National Treasure," shines light on the diversity of our community and is opening this month at the Benko Art Gallery. All are invited to the opening event on Saturday, June 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate our most precious national treasure: LOVE. Work from Tahoe artists Scott Forrest, Shelley Zentner, Red Stickman, Catherine Schoen, Hayden Tencher, and emerging artists from South Tahoe High School will be on display. Local musician Hailie Hay will be performing new music. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.

Bouldering competition for all abilities returns to South Lake Tahoe/Meyers

Some of the best developed climbing on the South Shore is on the numerous granite boulders scattered throughout the community of Meyers so it seems fitting that the 2016 Tahoe Bouldering Competition will take place there on September 17.

Former Bay Area residents and Touchstone employees Jen and Chris Bloch have taken on organizing the competition which was formerly known as the Meyers Climbing Festival.

There are new sponsors, more prizes and a large cash purse for winning participants. Also on tap are vendors, beer, food and much more.
