SnowGlobe and guests contribute 213 nights at Tahoe Warm Room; Make strides on waste reduction
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/27/2020 - 11:15pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - MTV’s SnowGlobe Music Festival has a continued commitment to give back to the South Lake Tahoe community each year, both during and after the three-day outdoor festival.
SnowGlobe 2019 was able to successfully expand their sustainability program, non-profit, and charitable giving initiatives, they said in a report released Monday.
In 2017, SnowGlobe began its partnership with The Sugar Pine Foundation, planting 200 sugar pine seedlings to help restore Lake Tahoe’s sugar pine population, which now makes up less than 5 percent of the Tahoe Forest.

Edgewood Tahoe to partner with local education groups during American Century Championship
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/26/2018 - 10:20amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Edgewood Tahoe has moved from one non-profit receiving the proceeds from food concessions during July's American Century Championship to several groups.
This year, Edgewood Tahoe is partnering with Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation, Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation, and Tahoe-Douglas Rotary Club who in turn will be donating 400 volunteer hours at Edgewood’s four main concession tents.

Vail Resorts CEO to donate $58 million to charitable fund

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rob Katz has established a charitable fund with assets that are expected to total approximately $58 million. From this, grants will be issued over a long-term period to communities where they operate, based on the recommendations of Katz and his wife, Elana Amsterdam according to Vail Resorts, Inc.
Katz will be funding this charitable giving vehicle from the shares and proceeds he will receive from exercising Vail Resorts share appreciation rights (SARs) that are approaching their 10-year expiration date.
Eric Church heads to the South Shore for two shows at outdoor arena
Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/01/2017 - 4:33pmCountry music singer/songwriter Eric Church has announced the second half of his 2017 "Holdin' My Own" tour, and it begins on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe which he makes a stop at the Outdoor Concert Arena at Harveys on September 2 and 3.
Each show begins at 7:00 p.m.
Church's 62 stop tour has been thrilling audiences with three-hours of top music. It is unknown at this time what opening act(s), if any, will be with Church when he starts the final eight shows of 2017 in Lake Tahoe.
Ticketmaster will be selling tickets to the public on May 19.
Give Where You Live this Thursday

“We have approximately 70 nonprofits participating in the event this year. Each nonprofit will have its own website presence to highlight a particular need or needs for which it is focusing giving dollars, as well as more information about the organization in general,” said Megan Buchanan, donor services coordinator at the foundation.

Mayor Claire Fortier, Mayor Pro Tem Tom Davis, Councilmember’s Angela Swanson and Bruce Grego, Councilmember elect JoAnn Conner, and City Manager Nancy Kerry were all in attendance for the ceremony.
“It’s exciting that we have a full range of clothing options now by a nationally renowned retailer and we are very fortunate to have that here in or town,” said Mayor Fortier.

Drop off furniture, tires and appliances to the South Tahoe Refuse Transfer Station for a discounted price of $5 per truckload. The event is also open to Nevada residents, who can dump their junk for $10 a truckload.
