NFL and Superbowl star Jim McMahon will be participating in two Carson Valley events this weekend. “Fore the Kids” Charity Golf Tournament, which opens the year at the Genoa Lakes Ranch Course, will be held on Saturday, May 14. McMahon will not only be golfing, but he has also donated a three-day vacation package at his guest home in Arizona with two days of golf with him at his home course.

Extreme athlete Erik Roner dies in Squaw Valley skydiving accident

Sky diver Erik Lars Roner, an MTV extreme athlete, was killed Monday when he flew into a tree during a charity golf event at Squaw Valley Monday morning, authorities said.

Roner, 39, of Tahoe City, Calif., was part of a team doing a performance for a charity golf tournament when he hit a tree and became entangled about 9:45 a.m., the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Roner was pronounced dead at the scene; all other skydivers landed safely, officials said.

The accident occurred at an annual golf fundraiser for the Squaw Valley Institute in Olympic Valley.

Tahoe Turning Point holding community golf tournament

Tahoe Turning Point is holding a charity golf tournament on September 17, 2015 at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course.

The agency has been serving the community since 1980 with five residential group homes for youth ages 13-18, counseling services for children, adults and families, as well as transitional housing programs for foster youth.

For $125 players will receive a round of golf at Lake Tahoe Golf Course, breakfast buffet, on course lunch, BBQ after playing, and awards.
