60-foot South Lake Tahoe community tree cut for Heavenly Village
Submitted by paula on Mon, 11/12/2018 - 6:15pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Rockefeller Center in New York City has a Christmas tree as a backdrop for all holiday activities in the Big City since 1933, and now South Lake Tahoe is starting what hopes to be an annual tradition. Standing at 60-feet, the local version isn't quite as big as their neighbor on the East Coast (which runs 60-100 feet and can weigh close to 30,000 pounds), but it serve as a place to warm hearts and be a center of holiday photos and fun.

February Ski Bum: where is the center of town?
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 02/15/2013 - 11:07pm
Event Date:
February 15, 2013 (All day) I am sure glad I live here and not down there where there is such a big stink about a dad who took a DOJ helicopter and dropped the homecoming football to the team from the air. Where else can you go anywhere and have Santa dropped of in the Calstar helicopter at the Meyers Christmas Tree lighting or have the high school homecoming game ball delivered by Calstar?
I would gladly pay for that as I know others would also.
