Amid voting for favorite websites, blogs, restaurants, American Idol contestants and more, residents of South Lake Tahoe have the opportunity to vote in an actual public election. Elections for the Lake Tahoe Community College board, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District board, the South Tahoe Public Utility District board and a ballot measure regarding recreation funds will all be decided by voters on Nov. 8.
Power restored to about 3,500 Liberty Energy customers

Power went out at about 2:30 this afternoon and was fully restored by 3:15 p.m., said Randy Kelly, manager for Liberty Energy. The outage stretched along Pioneer Trail, to Black Bart and included Lake Tahoe Community College and the South Tahoe Public Utility District sewer plant, Kelly said.

LTCC grant to help local kids move onward, upward

The Department of Education grant will be consist of five annual payments of about $230,000 each, said LTCC spokeswoman Christina Proctor. The college was informed it had been awarded the grant by the offices of California Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.
