For those born after 1976, the Cork and More is older than they are. The specialty food and wine shop recently celebrated a milestone, marking its thirty-fifth year in business last month. From a small wine and cheese shop to a complete culinary business, the store has grown and changed over the years to offer the consumer gourmet food, products and accessories for the kitchen and the table.

Made in Tahoe: Don the Baker dishes up shtick with his sweets

In this life, Don Ewing is a baker. In a previous life, he probably had his own TV show based on his life as a comedian who does shtick based on flour, yeast and water.
While South Shore is lucky to have Howie Nave as the emcee of all things standup comedy, Ewing, known around town as "Don the Baker," knows he can't compete on the same stage.
"I'm not really not funny," he says. "I'm not rich, either. I'm a baker's man who kneads dough."

Made in Tahoe: Local woman adds spice to life

From behind the island in a large stone and brick kitchen, Diane Weidinger goes about her business, carefully filling small tins with her spice blends to be shipped to customers near and far. Along with jars, tubs are stacked on a table at the end of the island. More jars crowd one end of the countertop. Weidinger is filling an order including blends of Egyptian, Scandinavian and Moroccan spices and more for a customer who wants to highlight workplace diversity.
