Open letter to the South Lake Tahoe community:
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/21/2020 - 9:39pmIt was a great honor to serve as a member of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) Board of Trustees for the last four years. As previously reported, I am stepping aside to focus on my career and raising my beautiful baby girl. I said many times while I was on the Board that every family in the District was my family, and every child in the District was my responsibility. Now that I have a child of my own, I think the parents of LTUSD will understand when I say that I need to focus on my own family for the time being.

Letter: Let the voters decide
Submitted by paula on Sat, 01/13/2018 - 7:46pmAre South Lake Tahoe's neighborhoods for sale? Over the last few years our
city has allowed out-of-town investors to turn houses into motels and
developers to build large scale lodging properties in our residential
neighborhoods. The local residents now want a chance to decide if we want
these motels in our neighborhoods. The petition being circulated will let
local voters make that decision. That is how democracy works using the

The idea behind representative democracy is that people will elect representatives that will serve their best interest. However, in the United States the funding for election campaigns is provided by large corporations, banks, and a handful of wealthy individuals that results in the election of representatives who serve the best interests of the large corporations, banks, and wealthy individuals.
