South Lake Tahoe locals graduate from STAT training program
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/01/2016 - 12:57pmSouth Lake Tahoe citizens who graduated from the most recent South Tahoe Action Team (STAT) training sessions were honored during Tuesday's city council meeting.
The STAT program is designed to incorporate trained citizens in the field with the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and other first responders during times of crisis. This is the first program of its kind in the Tahoe Basin.
"Our disaster preparedness capability is much better because of this class," said Fire Chief Jeff Meston.
Tahoe Valley Airport turned into disaster scene
Submitted by paula on Mon, 08/25/2014 - 8:32pmThe last time emergency response processes were tested in South Lake Tahoe was during the 2007 Angora Fire. In order to test communication, responses and evaluate procedures, a mock disaster drill was held at the Tahoe Valley Airport Monday.

Submitted by paula on Sun, 08/24/2014 - 12:07amLocal residents and visitors need to be aware of a mock emergency drill at Tahoe Valley airport on Monday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Dozens of emergency vehicles will be racing through town, responding to an emergency as part of mass casualty incident training (MCI) for local responders.
The MCI training will include a scenario of a major plane crash at Lake Tahoe Airport with multiple causalities.
