Submitted by paula on Sun, 08/24/2014 - 12:07am
Local residents and visitors need to be aware of a mock emergency drill at Tahoe Valley airport on Monday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Dozens of emergency vehicles will be racing through town, responding to an emergency as part of mass casualty incident training (MCI) for local responders.
The MCI training will include a scenario of a major plane crash at Lake Tahoe Airport with multiple causalities.
With the support of California Governor Brown’s support, a C130 plane will be landing at the airport. Police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, helicopters, and streets department vehicles will all be responding in this planned emergency response training exercise. Please do not call 911, as this is a planned emergency training.
For those working with the public, your guests will need to be informed of the drill so unnecessary panic can be averted.
