CARSON CITY — The U.S. Department of Justice announced today that it recovered $5.6 billion in civil and criminal fraud efforts in 2011, a 167 percent increase over 2008. In Nevada, recoveries totaled $8.3 million in 2011, a 137 percent increase over 2008 when $3.5 million was recovered.

When you pull into the Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine office parking lot on Third Street, the giant sign just off the road tells you that you've come to the right place for any of your orthopedic treatments. But also on it is two logos, the same that grace the business cards of four doctors inside the offices. They are for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams, to which several members of the orthopedics office contribute.
