3:00 a.m. - DUI - Lake Tahoe Blvd - 24-YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS STOPPED FOR AN EQUIPMENT VIOLATION AND FOUND TO BE UNABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE DUE TO HER LEVEL OF ALCOHOL INTOXICATION. A CHEMICAL TEST REVEALED A BAC OVER .08%. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED ON THESE CHARGES.

2:05 p.m. - Sierra at Tahoe - A 27-YEAR OLD MALE WAS CITED AND RELEASED FOR BATTERY AGAINST A MINOR, A 16-YEAR OLD BOY.

2:23 p.m. - Lake Tahoe Blvd - A 16-YEAR OLD MALE JUVENILE WAS ARRESTED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE JUVENILE TREATMENT CENTER AND BOOKED FOR PROVIDING FALSE

Fatal collision in South Lake Tahoe

An early morning collision on Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe left one person dead and sent two people by helicopter to the hospital.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire personnel responded to the accident and found a vehicle had crashed into a retaining wall. Two accident victims were still in the car and one person was lying in the roadway.

There was a female driver, female front passenger, and a male in the street. Police believe the male had been a passenger in the backseat of the 4 door sedan.

3:22 p.m. - Emerald Bay Road - BURGLARY: DEPUTIES WERE DISPATCHED TO A WINDOW SMASH BURGLARY FROM A VEHICLE. THE SUSPECT WAS DISCOVERED A SHORT TIME LATER AND POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED BY WITNESSES. THE MALE WAS ARRESTED.

Firefighters have put a line around 89% of the King Fire

9/28/14 10:00 p.m. update: 4,420 firefighters and support staff are still on the scene of the 97.099 acre King Fire which is now 89% contained.

After 4 days of precipitation with accumulations of 1-3 inches, fire spread has been halted, however heat remains in the heavier fuels and in the heavy duff sheltered from the rain under the dense timber canopy. As the weather turns warm and dry over the next several days, expect to see an increase in fire activity and smoke production; however spread potential is extremely low, doe to the successful suppression efforts.

4:12 p.m. - Johnson Blvd: A 47 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS ARRESTED FOR BEING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Man dies after being pulled out of water at Angora Lake

A man was found floating by the cabins at Angora Lakes on Thursday. He was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to El Dorado County Sheriff Sergeant Fleischmann, no other details are known at this time, just that he was male and had passed. What happened, age, name and hometown are unknown.

10:38 a.m. - Julie Lane: DEPUTIES FORCED ENTRY TO AFFECT AN EVICTION. THE TENANT, WHO WAS INSIDE THE RESIDENCE AND NOT RESPONDING PRIOR TO ENTRY, PROVIDED A NOTICE OF STAY

12:30 p.m. - Fallen Leaf Road: A 69 YEAR OLD MAN WAS TRANSPORTED TO BARTON HOSPITAL AFTER WELFARE CHECK BY DEPUTIES

Summer is on it’s way and with it comes the risk of wildland fires. Already throughout the State many lives and homes have been in danger due to wildland fires. If your home, or the home of someone you care for is at risk, will you be notified? Have you registered for emergency notifications through the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO), Office of Emergency Services (OES), Emergency Notification System? If not, now is the time to do so. The system sends out individual alerts about public health and public safety emergencies affecting specific geographical areas.

House Blows Up in Pollock Pines

A man living in Pollock Pines called 911 at about 3 p.m. Saturday, saying he was going to blow up his house. As El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home in the 6000 block of Pony Express Trail they heard an explosion. The residence was engulfed in flames and a male associated with the house was detained according to EDSO.

The unidentified male was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Sheriff John D’Agostini Acquires New Grant

Sheriff John D’Agostini is pleased to announce that the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a two year $250,000.00 Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant. The award from the US Department of Justice will be used to assist the Sheriff’s “Crisis Intervention Team” (CIT).

Body of teenage boy recovered from Emerald Bay

A teenage boy died of an apparent drowning in Emerald Bay on Friday while he was attempting to swim to Fannette Island, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office reports.

Javon Lamar Green, 17, was with his family in a rental boat when he went under water. The family estimated the distance to Fannette Island to be about 25 yards away from their boat, said El Dorado County Sheriff's Sgt. Matt Underhill.

His body was recovered Saturday morning, around 9:45 a.m. by the EDSO Dive Team in approximately 72 feet of water.

Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Train with the California National Guard in South Lake Tahoe

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team hosted a joint training with the 1-168th Medevac Wing of the California National Guard and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team. Training was conducted in and around Emerald Bay State Park. The 1-168th Medevac Wing, based at Mather Army Air Field Base near Sacramento, brought two Blackhawk helicopters equipped for search and rescue operations with hoists as well as their crew of Chiefs and Medics.

Family identifies man who died at Cascade Falls

UPDATE: 9:15PM: A 23-year-old Bay Area man who died on Saturday after slipping on ice and plunging about 150 feet near Cascade Falls, has been identified by family members as Michael James Machell of El Cerrito, Calif.
