A man living in Pollock Pines called 911 at about 3 p.m. Saturday, saying he was going to blow up his house. As El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home in the 6000 block of Pony Express Trail they heard an explosion. The residence was engulfed in flames and a male associated with the house was detained according to EDSO.
The unidentified male was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The fire department is currently fighting the house fire and Pony Express Trail is closed between house numbers 6064 and 6091. Due to the fire hazard and fire hoses, Sheriff John D’Agostini asks residents to remain out of the area while this incident is managed.
According to a press release there does not appear to be any other injuries at this time. Arson investigators are conducting their investigation with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit (CSI).
