2nd annual Reef's Run for Hydrocephalus Awareness returns to Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The 2nd annual Reef’s Run for Hydrocephalus Awareness will be held at Round Hill Pines Resort on Sunday, September 8 at 8:30 a.m.
The run is in support of Reef Woldt, a three-year-old South Lake Tahoe boy with hydrocephalus, and all others will the condition that affects more than one million Americans.

The South Lake Tahoe Babe Ruth Organization would like to thank the following community members and businesses who so graciously helped our THREE Nevada State Championship Teams (13-year olds, 14-15 year olds, and 16-18 year olds) compete at the Regional Tournament for the Pacific Southwest with their donations! Over 40 local youth benefited from this generosity by getting to play at the “next” level (one step away from the World Series)! The players had an amazing experience thanks to the community support in our little town here on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. THANK YOU ALL!
Business Expo fills with 85 vendors - Early bird tickets still available

A wide variety of local businesses will fill Harveys Tahoe on Friday, March 30 for the 2018 GO Local: Business EXPO from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This annual event is a community favorite that aims to showcase the most cutting-edge businesses on the South Shore. This year 85 exhibitors will feature their latest and greatest products, services and promotions. All members of the community are encouraged to attend and can expect a fun night of food tasting, beer and wine sampling, live music and vendor giveaways.
Tahoe Chamber event brings in $2,550 and food for Bread and Broth

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce's annual Connect for a Cause on January 18 had a great turnout from the community, bring in both cash and food donations for Bread and Broth.
Over 100 people attended the charity mixer at Riva Grill and they enjoyed appetizers and Riva Grill’s signature cocktail, Wet Woodies during the event.
Bread and Broth serves the community with weekly food giveaways and two hot meals a week, and their Bread and Broth 4 Kids programs gives over 170 South Lake Tahoe children in grades K-8 a backpack of weekend food.
Elevated Fitness celebrates 4th anniversary

Elevated Fitness, South Lake Tahoe's high altitude, carbon-neutral, human-powered fitness facility, focuses on dynamic and scientific workouts at their gym located at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd, Suite 8. They are celebrating their fourth year on the South Shore with a 2 for the price of 1 special. Two people join for the price of one, or, one person can join for two months at the price of one.

Have you seen the "Amazing Race" on television? Now you have a chance to participate in South Lake Tahoe's version, the Scavenger Charity Dash, on November 22, 2015 starting at noon.
Elevated Fitness is holding the fundraiser for the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A.
Teams of two will work together in a wild adventure that solves clues, finds scavenger items and is a complete fun challenge.
The cost is $50 per person or $90 per team. Race starts at Elevated Fitness located at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd., #8, in South Lake Tahoe. Call 530-318-8666 for more information.

The holidays will be a little brighter for more than 100 underprivileged local children/teenagers thanks to Tahoe Regional Young Professionals (TRYP) raising $5,000 at the organization’s 2nd Annual Winter White Holiday Party.
The Young Professions organized a holiday ‘FUN’draiser to benefit Tahoe’s SkiDUCK, (SKi and snowboarding for Disabled and Underprivileged Children and older Kids) at Riva Grill last month which included an evening of live music, raffle prizes, silent auction items, photo booth, games, food and drinks.

America's first carbon-neutral gym at Lake Tahoe takes green to the next level

June 30, 2012 - 8:00am Although they are still an unfortunate rarity, more green gyms are popping up in the United States. They are considered green because their carbon footprint is much lower than the typical huge box gym packed with walls of televisions, rows of cardio equipment (which also have a whole additional slew of TVs), and thousands of tons of carbon-unfriendly stationary equipment. These green gyms tend to be smaller, with the primary carbon footprint generating from their electric usage. Just one treadmill can use anywhere from 500 watts to 1 kilowatt per hour while in use.
